Write for Us
Write for Your Candidates. Your Health
Our readers are voters, patients, carers, clinicians, campaigners and local councillors. They follow health policy because it decides what happens in their own surgeries, hospitals and care homes. When you write for us, your argument reaches people who act on it: the ones who ask questions at hustings, respond to consultations, and hold elected members to account.
A contribution here does more than sit on a page. It gives our readers a clear case they can check, quote and pass on. If you have evidence, experience or a policy argument worth putting in front of that audience, we want to hear from you.
What we publish
- Public health: prevention, screening, vaccination, smoking and alcohol policy, obesity strategy, and the state of local public health budgets.
- Health policy: NHS structure and funding, social care reform, waiting lists, workforce planning, and devolved health systems across the UK.
- Advocacy: how campaigns are run, what works, and how patient groups and charities influence decisions.
- Health inequalities: deprivation, rural access, ethnic disparities, disability, and the gap between life expectancy in different postcodes.
- Frontline accounts: what staff and patients see that the statistics miss, written with care for anonymity where it is needed.
- Elections and health: manifestos, candidate positions, and what promises mean once a government is formed.
Guest posts and sponsored articles
We accept contributed editorial and sponsored placements. A guest post runs under the author's name; a sponsored post is published on behalf of an organisation and is marked as sponsored where disclosure is required. Both are permanent and indexed, and both are open to a link or two where the link genuinely helps the reader. Editorial links in contributed pieces are dofollow.
We do not publish everything we are offered, and we will say so quickly if a piece is not right for the site. Pricing is on request, and our usual turnaround from accepted draft to publication is three to five working days. If you would like to submit an article as a sponsored post, tell us the subject and the organisation at the outset so we can discuss placement and disclosure.
Guidelines
- Original and unpublished work. We do not republish pieces that have appeared elsewhere, including on your own site.
- 800 words or more, with a clear argument and a headline we can use.
- One or two relevant links at most, and only where they support the piece.
- No gambling, adult or pharmaceutical content.
- An author bio is optional. If you send one, keep it to two or three sentences.
- We edit for house style, length and clarity. We will not change your argument, and we will flag anything substantial before publication.
Read our contributor guidelines in full before you draft if you are unsure about tone or structure. They are short, and following them saves a round of edits.
How to pitch
Email guestpost@yourcandidatesyourhealth.org with the subject line "Guest post: <topic>". Include a short outline of no more than 150 words setting out your argument and why it matters now, and a link to past work or a brief note on your background. If the piece is already drafted, send it as a Word document or in the body of the email rather than as a PDF. We read everything and reply to pitches we can use, usually within a week. You can also use the mailto link: guestpost@yourcandidatesyourhealth.org.
If you would rather discuss an idea before writing, that is fine too. Send the outline first and we will tell you whether it fits. Everything, pitches and finished drafts alike, goes to guestpost@yourcandidatesyourhealth.org.
